Property Description

Privacy and tranquility are the greatest of luxuries. At Natura you will find the beauty of nature within an estate of 114 acres -- a hidden paradise where one can retreat in peace from the outside world.  The unspoiled natural environment of the property includes a spectacular tropical garden surrounding the elegant master residence perfectly situated on a plateau overlooking coffee and sugar cane fields and to the distant mountain range of the Central Valley.

Natura is luminous. It is serene and relaxing. It is the foundation for an exceptional life of luxury while living in harmony with nature. All ground floor rooms have direct access to the covered terraces and porches with views to the reflective water pool and the inspiring Balinese Pavilion, inviting you to relax and enjoy. Furthermore, the large free form pool of over 300m2 (3,200 sq.ft.) creates a striking central decorative element in the meticulously landscaped tropical gardens with dozens of mature coconut palm trees and thousands of flowering plants and bushes to attract butterflies, hummingbirds and beautiful birds.

In these peaceful surroundings, the house is welcoming, easy to run and easy to live in.  It was designed on two levels by a leading architectural firm and built by a highly reputable construction company in Costa Rica in 2002.

Security

The main house is located completely out of view from the main road. A private automatic gate with security features opens at the main road to a well-maintained, long private road that leads to the house.  The drive takes a few minutes, during which you will find yourself transported into your own private realm, passing a peaceful lake that serves as a sanctuary for a variety of birds, ducks and herons. It is surrounded by natural forest, a mango grove and manicured grounds.  The outer gardens have a chicken coop that holds chickens, turkeys and guinea fowl.

The second electronic security entrance comes with an electric fence and electric gate with communication and camera systems connected to the guard house, this is the main entrance to the house.   Once the gate opens, a bougainvillea lined driveway leads to the main house surrounded by a stone wall and the guardhouse. Here, visitors are welcomed and properly registered.  The stone wall surrounds an oasis of 10.000 m2 (2,2 acres). Via a circular plaza, a paved driveway leads to separate entrances: to the main house, to the three car garage, and to the staff accommodations with another three car garage and various storage rooms.

The Main Residence

•  The Entrance and Social Areas

Stepping into the main entrance of the house is like finding yourself in a magical world. A curved wooden bridge in Asian style is the center of a perfectly balanced Japanese garden, with a 20-meter river with waterfall. It is the focal point of the entrance, in harmony with the surroundings.

The main house has a total constructed area is 2,435 m2 (25,981 square feet). It opens to a huge vestibule with triple height ceilings, large beams in tropical wood and a fish pond. At one end is the opening to a formal dining room and the bar area, which has access to its own terrace with a mature tropical garden. At the other end there is a large family room with library/office, which also has access to its own terrace and the Japanese garden. The vestibule also has a guest bathroom and closet and opens to the outdoor social area and gardens in front and to the Japanese garden at the entrance. The outdoor social areas have ample terraces roofed for maximum use.

The high quality finishes include fine Italian gres porcelain tile, and Indian marble on the floors, and the finest woods in doors and beams. From the hall, a magnificent freestyle wooden staircase with dark tropical hardwood flooring leads to the Master Suite, two guest bedrooms and the art gallery. Here you will also find beams in tropical hardwood on the ceilings with wide ranging raffia fillings. All rooms, including the bedrooms, have large glass sliding doors framed in tropical wood, each with access to outside covered terraces, and all with a fantastic view of the mature tropical gardens and of the Japanese style garden.

• Master Suite and Bedrooms

The Master Suite is 100 m2 (1,067 sq.ft) and includes a sitting area, bedroom and bathroom with walk-in closet, shower, double vanity and Jacuzzi.  This room features elegant furniture in cherry wood from a famous Danish manufacturer. The two elegantly-styled guest bedrooms each has a bathroom and walk-in closet.

• Kitchens

On the main floor, the dining room and bar have direct access to a large semi- professional kitchen in cherry wood with granite tops, all equipment in stainless steel by high quality manufacturers such as Miele. Further from the kitchen there is a utility room/laundry room and, via an internal patio path, the staff accommodations with maids' quarters, and three car garage with large storage facilities.

Pool house and Barbeque area

Close to the pool and main house there is a pool house/barbecue area with a complete kitchen, bar, two rest rooms, changing facility, and a storage room.  The pool house offers a large lounge, dining space and terrace for social events, all well-integrated into the palm garden and swimming pool area.

Guest Bungalows and Staff Houses

Two bungalows are located on the opposite side of the pool each 90m2 (960 sq.ft). These bungalows serve as guesthouses integrated in the tropical garden, in the same style as the bedrooms/suites in the main house.  Each bungalow has a kitchenette, sitting area and large double beds with en-suite bathrooms.

Additional to the main house and its premises, the property offers four different small houses for caretakers or workers.  These houses are strategically located in different parts of the property.

The house comes fully furnished with modern European designer furniture and Chinese antiques.

Natura… A special place you can´t find anywhere else, perfect for a serene and uncluttered life in a haven of peace.

The Property

The property has a strategic location near the town of La Garita and is located at only 5 miles from Costa Rica's International Airport, Juan Santamaría.  La Garita is also known as the Kingdom of the Luxury Villas in Costa Rica and has been rated by the National Geographic Society as having the best weather of the world. This is a sector of rapid increasing value due to the fact that the highway to the Pacific Coast is located at minutes’ distance from the property, making this location a favorite one.  A drive to the Pacific Ocean takes only one hour.

The total estate consists of the house surrounded by landscaped gardens set in a large parkland of over 46.1 hectares, or 461,636.9 m2 or 114 acres. The property is flat to slightly undulating, fenced on all sides and with 3 small rivers, as well as a lake of 15.000 m2 (3,7 acres). It contains a beautiful forest with hundreds of tropical trees, fruit trees and vegetation.

The property can be partitioned for development into individual lots and individual houses can be built. It offers incredible opportunities for future expansion for a family compound or for a subdivision for development of luxury homes.  A wise investor can triple the investment by adequately developing the land and addressing the development to an exclusive target market overseas.  The property is ideal for a luxury gated community, with country club, events center and golf course, a five star boutique hotel, a retirement community, a wellness community, a holistic health center, a corporate retreat community, a private luxury estate for a family looking for maximum privacy and tranquility.

This will be an excellent business opportunity for a buyer who wishes to develop this unique property as a sharp rise of prices of real estate is taking place in this area of Costa Rica.

Due to its climatic favorable location at 2,100 ft. (700 meters) above sea level the daily average temperature lies between 20ºC (70ºF) and 28ºC (85ºF). There is always a light breeze, and neither heating nor air-conditioning are needed.

Good road connections make it possible to reach the capital city of San Jose in 45 minutes or less, depending on traffic.  The drive to the international airport is merely 20 minutes.  It takes only 30-40 minutes to get to Alajuela or Escazu where there are international shopping malls.
