Nina Ricci is a brand which definitely seen it all. Due to historic foundation and rich past, the brand is still prominent among the people. The brand was established in 1932 by the founders being Nina Ricci, after whom the brand is named, and her son Robert Ricci, who managed the business and the finances. Nina Ricci, also known as Maria Nielli, was inclined towards fashion designing, since her childhood. She worked as a designer for 20 years before launching her own label with the help of her husband. Nina was Maria’s nickname before her marriage. She worked as the brand’s head designer for several years, until she got old and could not manage the work. By the early 1970’s, Madame Maria got old but still she overviewed the designs by the new designers, hired in place of her. Belgian designer Jules Crahay was hired for a few years until 1963 when he left the job to work at Lanvin, another giant fashion industry. Maria’s design set the tone of the dresses as feminine, elegant and sophisticated.  She designed clothes directly on models to get the picture of the upcoming dress. Her design was undoubtedly applaudable, and most of the upper class women wore them to their parties. Their classic dresses which are sophisticated yet dressy, and hence they became cult favourite and still is. Madame Maria’s designed clothes were luxurious due to the finest quality of fabrics and other embellishments.

Due to the unmissable femininity in the garments of Nina Ricci, the brand grew commendably from being launched in a single room to three buildings with 11 floors. Their success was shocking to the other fashion houses in the twentieth century. After the World War II when people lost optimism and gloom surrounded the world, then couture houses lost their business. Women lost their will to dress up and hence couture houses started losing their popularity. In an attempt to revive the popularity of haute couture, the brand organized several shows, whilst collaborating with other brands. The shows got very successful across Europe, and their sales skyrocketed in no time.

The brand even launched perfumes, some of which are still among the best selling range. The brand's most famous fragrance, L'Air du Temps, is still prominent and produced by the label. The label’s founder cum designer passed away in 1970, and since then the company was handled by her son, who hired several top designers for the label, to keep Nina Ricci up to its mark. Crahay joined the company after Ms. Ricci passed away, and his designs received lot of approval. The business was bought by Massimo Guissain, Puig company.

This Parisian couture haute is one of the oldest Parisian fashion houses, which are still in production. Nina Ricci, currently, is approved for its fragrances, skincare products, accessories and apparels. The L'Air du Temps is, however, still their best selling perfume, among other ground breaking fragrances. The bottles of the perfumes are also praised by the customers, due to its exclusive, unique and luxe design. The label is still prominent due to its will to move with time and will complete their century in a few years.
