Coach is an American brand, under the  parentdom of another American giant, Tapestry Inc. This fashion company was founded by Lillian Cahn and Miles Cahn,  almost 80 years ago, who later left the cooperation and became the founders of Coach Farm and Goat cheese. The brand was founded as a cooperation which manufactured leather wallets and purses for men only. After some time, the founders observed the functioning of leather baseball gloves. They noticed the gradual change in the leather of gloves, from being hard to transitioning towards being soft and supple. Taking inspiration from this observation, the duo proposed to make leather bags for women, which would be soft and functional. They used dye to make the leather soft and in the process, leather soaked up the dye and got rich hue. They used this technique to supplement the male collection of wallets and purses with female ones in their store. Their sturdy leather purses for women became hit in the market due to its unprecedented innovation and craftsmanship. The family-owned business was doing well in the market and to compliment their collections further, the cooperation hired Bonnie Cashin in 1962, who was famous for designing bags in which leather and fabric was mixed. Cashin designed several handbags for the brand, some of which became hit in the market.

When the fashion was changing rapidly in mid twentieth century, Coach chose to stick to their traditional and versatile designs and manufacturing processes. Due to the fast changing fashion in 60's, Coach's designs started lagging in the run. Other brands were launching more edgy, stylish and different products, and in this scenario Coach was seen as a brand which produced outdated and boring products. In 1980's, Cahns sold the company to Sarah Lee Cooperation, and the company began to flourish again under the new owner. Lew Frankfort was hired as vice president in 1979 and his contribution to the brand is commendable. Several measure were took by the new heads of the company such as expanding the range of products and adding new trending ones to the collections. They introduced their website coach.com in 1999 and stepped their way in e-commerce. Many stores of the brand were also inaugurated, in their country as well as overseas. The profit of the company was more than doubled under the leadership of the owner and president. Gradually, the label has shifted from being only leather products brand to a lifestyle brand. Currently, the brand has 986 stores across the world, with the headquarters being situated at New York City. More than 50% of their revenue is sourced from their business in retail stores. The heads of the label are CEO Todd Kahn and executive creative director Stuart Vevers. The label is currently known for its handbags, purses and wallets, however their products are extensively ranged from ready-to-wear, accessories, footwear to eyewear and fragrances. Their long heritage of providing high quality products was never altered and still provides good quality in all products.
