The New Luxury : Experiences Over Hedonism?

Over the years, Luxury has certainly changed. The demand for experienced-based luxury including fine-wine, gourmet food, luxury travel has outstripped personal goods like bags, watches, clothes.

Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, luxury brand houses were selling experiences like palatial lodging and dining where their affluent jet-set customers can indulge and be able to share their experiences on social media.

With Covid-19 having disrupted the trend of Luxury experience, very few are crossing country lines to enjoy a lavish experience in any of the luxury-based hotels.

Wondering what kind of Luxury houses provide with such sort of experiences? Let’s have a look. Luxury power houses like Armani, LVMH, BVLGARI, Versace seem to be the leading powerhouses in providing experiential luxury.

Armani’s gorgeous hotel in Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa is surely one to visit. Rooms average from about a $600 a night to a whooping $24,000 a night suite. So, if you do decide to live like a king what better place than the Italian powerhouse hotel. The hotel comprises of 7 different dining options which specializes in contrasting cuisines.

LVMH, the world’s most powerful luxury house has bought into ‘Cheval Blanc’, France’s amazing Maison which is known for creating amazing experiences through craftsmanship and contemporary designs complementing the experience. Louis Vuitton has partnered with Cheval Blanc and has taken over the management reins of the business. The hotels are more heavenly and gives its guests the utmost feeing of heritage and secrecy. It is a must visit hotels for the exemplar luxury travelers.

Versace being one of the leading luxury houses in the industry, has also branched into the concept of experiential luxury. In fact, it was one of the first labels to do so. ‘Palazzo Versace’ hotels are quite awesome as they give the pleasure of a resort stay with the concept of luxury in the 2 most iconic destinations like the Jaddaf Waterfront in Dubai and the gold coast of Australia. The hotel designs are reminiscent of Versace’s iconic designs.

There are other Luxury fashion labels like Hermes’, Ralph Lauren, BVLGARI, Prada all tapping into luxury experiences by opening restaurants and resorts, or by opening small café’s or chichi bars.

The demand for luxury is changing as people want to be able to experience luxury in different ways, one being a direct connection with the brand and a one in a million experience where they can talk about their contrasting happenings for the rest of their lives.
