Partisans Create Canadian Fold House That Blends With Nature

One such amazing work of theirs is the The Fold House based in Hamilton, Toronto. It has become the dream house for people across the world due to its unconventional design and setting at the hillside. The house is a perfect destination for you to vent out all the stress and monotony from life, given its serene surrounding and the free-spirited design. The Partisans- a Toronto-based architecture firm who aspire to make better cities with innovative designs, ideas, and technology- with their talented team they manufactured this spectacular house and finished their task in 2020. The Partisans have been blessing Canadian architecture with their innovative and ahead of time technology.

Fold House, is a pavilion with bendy ceilings and soft curves, unlike the conventional households. However, the house is not a foldable house. The landscape like house spreads across 4,473-square-foot and comprises of a pool inside the house and three bedrooms and four bathrooms. The two-storey house also has an outdoor steel-staircase within the curved ceiling leading to the garden roof, which faded well with outdoor environment. The house is in sync with nature and is built with caution to blend it well with the landscape.

Even though The Fold House might appeal to you for spending your summer there, but the pavilion is owned by Scott Friedmann, who lives there with his family of five people. Friedmann’s first house was the first one to have a heated pool but accidently the house was on fire in 2017 (literally!), fortunately the family members were rescued safely. The family had to build another house on the same footprint and got the opportunity to play around with the design of their new house.

The entrepreneur owner of the house, Scott Friedmann, is the co-founder and executive chairman of New Skype, a company for the development of recipes of food and beverages. Considering interest of the owner is inclined towards cooking, the kitchen in the Canadian folding house is exceptionally well-designed and built, where the entrepreneur experiments recipes and shoots videos of them too. The house provides ample space for gatherings and is embellished with contemporary yet classic textured wood and flooring. The family also maintains a vegetable garden, beehives and heirloom chickens in the property.

The pavilion is furnished with large sliding glass windows to enjoy the serene environment and weather of Canada. The depression in woods used to build the wavy façade in front of the Fold House, was built by employing a technique used in musical instruments and furniture but is manifested rarely on such large scale. The curved walls are designed to encapsulate the essence of hills in the house and evidently the architects of Partisans have passed with flying colours in their attempt. The Friedmann family is currently enjoying their expensive and magnificent house with organic supplies of groceries from their self-sufficient gardens. The Canadian Fold House is definitely a perfect escape for us but only a few can afford such expensive escapes.
