About India Art Festival 2023

India Art Festival, one of India's major contemporary art networks, has attracted galleries, dealers, buyers, designers, and other art enthusiasts to Mumbai in 2023. The extraordinary art event will be held from 19 to 22 January 2023 at the Nehru Centre and will include exhibits, panel talks, and more.

Around fifty galleries, five hundred and fifty artists, and five thousand pieces of art will illuminate Mumbai - India's financial capital in January 2023.

It is the vibrant India Art Exhibition 2023 (IAF). This magnificent art event brings together the art world – from major galleries to small artists – under one roof in order to speak, interact, exhibit, and spread the culture. This enables up-and-coming artists to be identified and provides art enthusiasts with a front-row seat to the growth of art in the nation. Following successful runs in Bengaluru and New Delhi, the Mumbai edition promises to be memorable.

The inaugural edition of the IAF, held in 2011, lay the basis for "democratising" the Indian art market. According to the official website, it accomplishes this in two ways: "first by mixing rural artists with metro-bred, highly articulate urban artists, and second by creating a simple, yet refreshing atmosphere for the 'art viewing, buying, and selling' process outside of the confines of inaccessible art spaces."

In keeping with this trend, a visit will bring you face-to-face with original paintings, sculptures, installations, lithographs, and other artworks.

Aside from this, there are other expert-led panel discussions on a variety of topics, from infrastructure to art collecting. The Harmony Hall of the Nehru Centre will host four such discussions in 2018. This includes art curator and writer Niyatee Shinde's "Assembled Emotions: On Modes of Writing about Contemporary" as well as the perspectives of artist Baiju Parthan and art writer Abhijeet Tamhane on subaltern writing, the evolution of India's modernity from colonial to global entity, and tensions between mainstream and periphery, among others. In addition, artist and pedagogy professor Indrapamit Roy will speak about the history of art history teaching in the nation. These will occur on the 20th and 21st of January.

The participation fees vary from INR 22,000 for a 1 mtr panel and INR 1,32,000 for a 6 mtr panel.

Entrance is free, however, for individuals who just want to see the artwork.

VIP passes, which are also free, may be acquired by filling out a form on the official website's main page.

These will provide admission to the preview on January 19 between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Mumbai's Nehru Centre, Discovery of India Building, Dr. A B Road, Worli is the location.
