Top luxury jewelry designer brands in Italy

One of Italy's main areas known today for its gold jewellery is Vicenza, famous for its fine gold plating and custom designs and for hosting the World Premier Jewellery Fair, the Vicenza Oro.

'Objects made from different fragments and gemstones have been depicting wealth and prosperity for centuries now.’

Before gemstones, Gold and only gold was used to make ornaments .Gold has always proved to be jewelers first choice over another metals because of its durability and non-tarnishing nature.

Today, Italian jewellery brands are characterized by the expert use of 18-carat gold or higher, sterling silver and colored glass artfully alloyed. In one year, Italy alone processes more than 500 tons of fine gold and 1,500 tons of silver to feed their jewellery production.

Buccellati

Mario Buccellati launched his first jewellery boutique in 1919, on Largo Santa Margherita in Milan. After Mario Buccellati’s death in 1967 his brothers Lorenzo and Frederico split the business and managed the central stores in Italy. They also established their luxury jewellery brand in other locations in the latter part of the 20th century including Hong Kong, Japan, Monte Carlo and Paris.

Buccellati is known for its textural gold jewellery and exquisite silver objects. As one of the oldest Italian jewellery brands operating from the 1920s to the 1960s, their pieces are bold and instantly recognisable.

All of the Buccellati jewellery is created to look and feel like silk, lace, damask, tulle or linen. The use of mixed metals such as silver and gold as well as platinum and gold is also typical. If there are any gemstones used, they are unusual and include carved emeralds, rubies and rose-cut diamonds.
