Mercedes-Maybach Debuts its First Plug-in Hybrid Automobile

First Plug-in Hybrid Automobile by Mercedes-Maybach

  1. The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e (preliminary data, fuel consumption combined, weighted: 1.00.8 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined, weighted: 2318 g/km, electricity consumption combined, weighted: 25.022.9 kWh/100 km) 1 inaugurates a new era for the more than 100-year-old brand.

  2. With an electric range of up to 100 kilometres (WLTP)1 depending on the vehicle's configuration and an electric-drive output of 110 kW/150 hp, the luxury saloon may travel CO2-free in the city and on intercity trips.

  3. The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e will first be accessible in China, Thailand, Europe, and other regions.

Since Wilhelm and Karl Maybach started producing vehicles in 1921, the Mercedes-Maybach brand has been considered the pinnacle for automotive elegance, design, and prestige. Their goal was to produce "the greatest of the best," an objective that continues to define the distinctive atmosphere of Mercedes-Maybach.

The iconic brand consistently reinvents itself to meet the most remarkable expectations. Since its introduction on the market in 2021, demand for the current Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has increased gradually.

"With our first plug-in hybrid vehicle, we combine the Maybach-typical luxury experience with emission-free local driving in electric mode." The Mercedes Maybach S 580 e is a defining moment in the evolution of our heritage brand into an electric future. We will debut our first fully-electric vehicle by 2023."

Daniel Lescow - the Head of Mercedes-Maybach for the Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e makes the feeling of quiet even more amazing. In electric-only mode, the cabin, which was already extraordinarily quiet, gets even quieter. The sedan moves with little noise and zero local emissions. Electric-specific elements are discreetly incorporated with traditional Maybach competence, such as the disguised charging outlet on the left side of the car, blue highlights in the headlights, and the battery charge status shown in the instrument panel.

The hybrid drive is based on a highly efficient inline six-cylinder engine from the current generation of Mercedes-Benz gasoline engines, which combines 270 kW/367 hp of power with low fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.

The system's combined power of 375 kW/510 hp and peak torque of 750 Nm ensures exceptional driving performance. Maximum torque of 440 Nm is instantly accessible from the first engine rotation, resulting in fast acceleration and agile handling. In 5.1 seconds, the MercedesMaybach S 580 e goes from 0 to 100 km/h.

Standard equipment includes an 11 kW charger for three-phase charging from the AC mains. Optionally offered is a 60 kW DC charger for quick charging using direct current. Even when the battery is almost depleted, a full charge may be accomplished in around 30 minutes utilising the latter.
