Kering Group and The Explorers: Building A Tomorrow

We are living in unprecedented times and have been presented with a great paradox. Being forced into isolation has only magnified our need to connect; connect with each other and with nature. To work in sync with each other is the only way to live in sync with our environment. In keeping with this vision of communicating better to understand better and protect better, Kering group has partnered with The Explorer’s project.

The Explorers’ project reveals the beauty and the fragility of our planet. In doing so, it raises awareness of biodiversity protection, encouraging involvement from as many people as possible. Working with the idea of action through awareness, this foundation aims to create an attitude of sustainability, converting it into a way of life. A fundamental change in human behaviour in favour of the environment is the way forward. The Kering group aims to use it’s influence to help draw attention to and further this mission. The reach of the luxury group will aid in communication across borders. In keeping with this, the Kering group has launched a €5 million Kering for Nature Fund: One Million Hectares for the Planet. The objective is to support promising agricultural and rangeland projects across the world with a special focus on leather, cotton, wool and cashmere. Kering believes that ‘regenerative agriculture has the potential to transform the face of agriculture and is grounded in the idea that we can replenish and strengthen ecosystems through improved farming and livestock rearing practices.’ Highlighting the gravity of the situation is the common goal binding these two organisations together.

The focus of their work is divided into three chapters on water, skies and the Earth.  The strengths and weakness of the Earth are uncovered through testimonials of local populations and specialists. Taking you on an expedition across borders, this collaboration presents mind boggling tales. The aerial team of The Explorers showcases the richness and abundance of our land from the sky. The waters of the world are explored by the underwater teams. The sheer beauty of the natural and the wildlife in the seas, lakes and oceans will prompt a step back and a deep thought. The Explorers delved into the Marquesas where the underwater cliffs and marine life are a sight for sore eyes. Since 2018, the Marquesas Islands are a candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage listing.

The idea is to create a sustainability approach today, for tomorrow.
