Joby Aviation Takes Over Uber Elevate, Reigning Over the eVTOL Market

Aviation and luxury are synonymous in many ways. The joy and privelege of flying private is a different one indeed. Many new age aviation companies are redefining the way we fly in the skies and Joby Aviation an aviation company based in California, United States is definitely one of them.

The North American eVTOL market is in for a celebration with the recent news of Joby Aviation, which is known for creating and designing futuristic aircrafts, has now acquired the infamous Uber Elevate.

Earlier this year, Uber Elevate had announced its plans to build a virtual take-off and landing urban network that was to be released in 2023.

The California-based companies will now come together to create an electric flying taxi network that flies at a range of 150 miles, with a top speed of 200 mph.

While Uber Elevate had initially invested $50 million in Joby, after purchasing it from its parent company, Uber Technologies have now invested a sum of $75 million in to Joby’s to bring this project to life.

JoeBen Bevirt, Founder and CEO of Joby Aviation shares how incredible the experience has been partnering with Uber Elevate last year and how they are looking forward to officially welcoming them to the Joby Team this year.

Coming in to this partnership, Uber Elevate plays an important role of creating pilot network projects at multiple locations as well as to provide the basis for technology and infrastructure to build on this eVTOL network.

They are working on multiple levels ranging from governments, real estate agents and industry level stakeholders to put together the world’s first aerial rideshare network.

These Uber air-vehicles will be designed to make commuting efficient at a price similar to taking an Uber X at the same distance.

This advanced air mobility technology will have a great positive influence on the future generation as well as will be safe for the environment in the long run.

Apart from this revolutionary project, Joby Aviation also received an endorsement from Agility Prime- which is an experimental aircraft office of the US Air Force.

This immense recognition makes Joby the first company to be certified to provide transportation for the US Armed Forces.
