Club Mahindra Sets Benchmark in Eco-Luxury with IGBC Platinum Green Resort Ratings

Leading Sustainability in Hospitality

Club Mahindra, the flagship brand of Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited, has achieved a milestone in sustainable hospitality by receiving IGBC Platinum Certification for 14 of its resorts in 2024. This recognition, awarded at the Green Building Congress 2024, highlights the brand’s commitment to environmental responsibility and its vision to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.

What Makes IGBC Platinum Certification Exceptional?

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum Certification is one of the highest honors in sustainable construction. It evaluates properties on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and sustainable materials. Club Mahindra’s certified resorts exemplify these principles, ensuring eco-friendly operations while delivering unmatched guest experiences.

Platinum Resorts Across India

The 14 Platinum-certified resorts span diverse destinations, reflecting Club Mahindra’s wide footprint:

  • Gujarat: Netrang, Gir
  • Rajasthan: Kumbhalgarh, Jaipur
  • Karnataka: Madikeri, Virajpet
  • Tamil Nadu: Ooty Derby Green
  • Goa: Assonora
  • Kerala: Munnar Lake View, Munnar Mount Serene, Thekkady, Arookutty
  • Maharashtra: Hatgad (Nashik), Tungi (Lonavala)

These resorts integrate sustainable practices like rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment plants, and solar energy systems, minimizing their environmental impact.

Sustainability at the Core

Club Mahindra’s resorts prioritize biodiversity and eco-conscious living.

Key initiatives include:

  • Water Conservation: Sewage treatment plants, rainwater harvesting, and water recycling.
  • Waste Management: Biogas generation from food waste and recycling systems.
  • Renewable Energy: Solar panels and carports to reduce energy consumption.
  • Eco-Friendly Amenities: Organic food production, sustainable commuting, and green education programs.

The Madikeri Resort stands out as India’s first Triple Net Zero certified resort, showcasing excellence in energy, water, and waste management.

A Vision for the Future

Julian Ayers, Chief Resorts Officer, remarked, “With 60% of our resorts already certified, our goal is to certify all resorts within the next two years. By integrating innovative eco-friendly initiatives, we provide exceptional holidays while contributing to a healthier planet.”

Mahindra Holidays, the first Indian hospitality brand to join RE100 and EP100, continues to lead the way in sustainability, from installing solar photovoltaic systems to reducing LPG usage through biodigesters.

Why It Matters

This achievement reinforces Club Mahindra’s position as a leader in eco-luxury hospitality, setting a new standard for sustainability in India and beyond.
